Senior Pastor Gary and Valerie Brumbelow
I’m a husband, a dad and a grandpa who loves to spend time with my family. I have never gotten over the wonder that Jesus saved me. Even after many years of reading and studying the Bible, I find it an amazing source of truth and love to share those truths.
I had the privilege of growing up in a home with a mom and dad who loved Jesus and taught me about Him. I came into a personal relationship with Christ as a very young boy. Since that day I have never doubted I belong to Him, but not because of any merit of mine. The merit of Christ alone is all I can claim.
Valerie and I have served in the ministry world for 36 years. We worked as cross-cultural church planters for eight years in First Nations communities in Canada, followed by 24 years in mission administration. I served as writer/editor with Disciple Nations Alliance from 2010 until 2021.
I studied at Moody Bible Institute and earned a Bachelor of Religious Education at Grace University, and a Master of Arts from Wheaton College. More recently I earned a grad diploma at Western Seminary.
My greatest love is preaching the gospel and the glorious riches of Christ. I’m privileged with the opportunity to do that at Troutdale Community Church.
Associate Pastor Rodney and Luana Barnes
Rodney and Luana started attending TCC in 2019; they live in Portland. Rodney has several undergraduate degrees, including a B.A. from EWU (1989) and Graduate Certificate in Bible from Multnomah University (1990). Rodney earned an M.Div. from Western Seminary (1996). They were married in 1997. Luana earned her Partners in Ministry Certificate from the same (2000).
